Update 2
We have selected Ocoee River Rats as the camping/lodging location for the Spring Fly-In. Andrew, Radi, and I stayed there this past weekend and the accomodations are nice and only about 1 mi from the LZ. For the Fly-In, they are offering discounted rates of $50/night for the lodge rooms, and for camping it is only $10/adult/night, children 12 and under free, and $5 for older children. The campground has bathroom and shower facilities and pavilions with BBQs. The lodge rooms have a small fridge, a queen bed and a futon that folds out into a bed. No coffee maker however, and if you bring your own you need to plug it in outside on the deck. Be sure you get the SPP Fly-In rate when you book your room or campsite. They are excited about hosting us for the Fly-In and will make sure they do what ever they can to make our stay enjoyable. If you are bringing your family, they can book a trip down the Ocoee with the Ocoee River Rats. About a mile from launch there is a park with a small lake for swimming and a nice hike to see Benton Falls.
This info as well as pictures of the lodge and campground will be posted on the SPP web site soon.
See you there!
Update 1
The Fly-In will be held at Chilhowee on May 31st & Jun 1st and we will jump over to Pigeon if winds require. Our foul weather date will be the following weekend, Jun 7th & 8th.A fun competition will be held on Sat and will include spot landing, max altitude, longest duration flight, and longest XC flight. Awards will be given 3 deep in each category. Awards ceremony and party will be held on Sat night and we will pack as much flying in on Sun as we can.
We haven't selected a camp site yet but that is in the works and will be close to Chilhowee. Everyone is to bring their own food and drink and we will have camp fires to cook on.
Details will continue to be posted on the SPP web site. See you there!
