Flight Park Guidelines

Southern Para Pilots Flight park Guidelines
(Revised 12/2011)

  1. All guidelines are for the safety of everyone using the Flight Park and can be modified. Contact a board member for details.

  2. Everyone visiting the Flight Park MUST sign a waiver before entering the flying field (this includes visitors and spectators).

  3. The Flight Park is solely for paragliding and paragliding activities other recreations activities are prohibited unless promoted by SPP.

  4. The Flight Park is open on weekends only (weather permitting) use of the park at any other time is permitted as long as you notify the Flight Park Manager(s).

  5. The flight park will operate on family band channels ONLY. Pilots must have a family band capable radio to launch. The majority of communication on the channel in use by the park is for flight operations (operator, launch assistant, and pilot). All non-operational communication on the channel in use by the park use should be restricted to required conversations ("going to subway")..

  6. Speed assist will be used for all towing at SPP Flight Park.

  7. Every pilot must fly with a hook knife, no exceptions.

  8. Tow winch operation is only allowed by certified USHPA tow operators.

  9. All pilots wanting to tow must have ST (surface tow) authorization.

  10. Paragliding instruction is permitted by USHPA certified instructors only, and requires written permission from the board.

  11. SPP Flight Park will honor tow packages purchased from Luis in 2011.

  12. Use of a payout winch requires 2 persons, a driver and a spotter.

  13. Use of a stationary winch from end to end requires a tow operator and launch assistant.

  14. Use of a stationary winch through a pulley requires only a tow operator but the operator must be in the direct line of sight of the pilot and within 100 feet from the pilot.

  15. Short tows are 2 for 1 but both tows must be in the same day otherwise one full tow will be charged.

  16. Tandem flights will pay $15.00 per tow for tows with other certified SPP pilots or immediate family members (spouse or child). Commercial tandem flights are $30.00 per tow.

  17. There is no priority for tandem pilots. If you are going to have more than 5 tandems you must notify the SPP Flight Park manager(s) at least 1 week in advance. A request for priority will be posted on the Yahoo group if no objections are received within 2 days tandems will take priority that day.

  18. Pets must be controlled at all times. Pet that may be a hazard to flight operations or equipment may be requested to be restrained by any SPP member.
