Waldens is privately owend by an SPP member as with all our sites please respect the property and the local residents.
Launch
The launch is wide enough for 3-4 gliders to set up. Be very cautious on days with a W to SW wind as the valley flow tends to be very south and very turbulent on those days...Please as always be mindful of your surroundings and leave launch as you found it. Take your trash with you...

Primary Landing Zone
There is a wind sock pole located in the center of the field so be on the lookout for it. There are also powelines that run along the north end of the field near the trees. Be careful not to get blow back if there is a good southerly wind.
Caution:
There are several DNL (DO NOT LAND) fields in the area, please be sure you are familiar with them before you fly.

From LZ to Launch
- Head west on Dempsey Rd toward Alvin York Hwy/TN-283 0.2 mi
- Turn left at Alvin York Hwy/TN-283 2.2 mi
- Turn left at Suck Creek Rd/TN-27 1.0 mi
- Turn right to stay on Suck Creek Rd/TN-27 1.1 mi
- Turn left to stay on Suck Creek Rd/TN-27 2.7 mi
- Turn left at Big Fork Rd Destination will be on the left 1.6 mi
Emergency Landing Zone
There are no "Emergency LZ's most fields are fine to land in if there is an emergency. However there are several fields you should NOT land in, it's expressly forbidden and will face trouble if you land in one of these fields. Please note the picture on the right.
Radios
Some form of radio communication is required to fly Waldens Ridge. A 2 meter radio is preferred, but a GFS (family band) is acceptable however, they do not get good reception in the valley.
There is a great little Mexican Resteraunt in town with reasonably priced 64oz Dos Equis, and some really good mexican food too...
